Las catastr\u00f3ficas inundaciones de 2023 en Chile central evidenciaron la compleja transici\u00f3n entre sequ\u00edas prolongadas y eventos extremos de inundaci\u00f3n, resaltando los desaf\u00edos para la gesti\u00f3n del riesgo desde una perspectiva sociohidrol\u00f3gica. Este estudio explora la incidencia de la megasequ\u00eda como factor desencadenante natural del \u201cefecto olvido\u201d en la ciudadan\u00eda y en los actores institucionales, as\u00ed como su impacto en los instrumentos de gesti\u00f3n del riesgo de desastres. Mediante un enfoque multiescalar, se examinan el comportamiento hidrol\u00f3gico, la percepci\u00f3n social del riesgo y los instrumentos de gesti\u00f3n territorial vinculados a la gesti\u00f3n del riesgo de desastre. Los resultados indican que la sequ\u00eda prolongada contribuy\u00f3 a la subestimaci\u00f3n del riesgo de inundaci\u00f3n, reflejada en una disminuci\u00f3n de la percepci\u00f3n social del riesgo, la ocupaci\u00f3n habitacional de zonas expuestas y la insuficiente preparaci\u00f3n institucional, evidenciada en deficiencias de los instrumentos de gesti\u00f3n del riesgo desde niveles locales hasta regionales. Se concluye que es necesario contar con estrategias de gesti\u00f3n del riesgo de desastres que incorporen cambios en los patrones hidrol\u00f3gicos y los componentes sociales del riesgo.<\/p>\n
